Google buys Motorola Mobile and what is means for social

The purchase of Motorola’s mobile division is seen by many as a way to compete with Apple in building out good quality mobile platforms or mobiles. The 12.5 billion dollar buy, puts Google in the situation of being a mobile and device manufacturer.

So why does this matter for social? Well, soon, just about all of us will be primarily using our phones to interact with the social networks we create. As a result, the device and software its running will have some importance on the social networks that we use. After all, if google own the software, hardware and the network, you can see the direction. Google now does have its own social network called Google Plus, a rival to facebook.

We have even seen Google android phones with decicated Facebook buttons, but this could all change with the potential to get your social networking kicks on Google plus.
